The World’s Best Workforce bill, passed in 2013, strives to ensure every school district in the state is making strides to increase student performance.
Each district must develop a plan that addresses the following five goals below. Please click on the yellow bar to expand our plans for each goal identified.

Students are ready for school upon entering Kindergarten
SMART GOAL: In the spring of 2022, 97% of all students enrolled in Byron Preschool will meet all 6 of the end of year expectations as measured by the Widely Held Expectations Report on the GOLD assessment and will be considered “Kindergarten ready."We do this by- Aligning our pre-school program with our Kindergarten expectations
- Ensuring vertical alignment through PLC work
- Options for an extended preschool program
- Realigning school readiness calendar to align with rest of Byron Public Schools

Students achieve grade level literacy by grade 3
SMART Goal: By the spring of 2022, 75% of K-3 students will reach proficiency benchmark as measured by FAST.
WE DO THIS BY:- Aligning our proficiency benchmark scores to College and Career Readiness
- Communicating clear proficiency benchmarks for end of year proficiency
- Creating an instructional framework that outlines instructional expectations
- Creating clear and focused End of Year Expectations
- Developing a data infrastructure so teachers have easy access to the data they need to make instructional decisions

We close the achievement gap between all racial and ethnic groups and between students living in poverty and not living in poverty
2021-2022 SMART Reading Goal:
We will increase the number of special education students who meet or exceed proficiency in Reading by 5% or more, as measured by the 2022 MCA Reading test and/or FAST tests.

WE DO THIS BY:
- Working to ensure ALL students are being taught grade-level standards and are assessed on those standards
- English Language Learner teacher working with any students whose first language is not English
- Personalized Learning Plan for our most at-risk learners
Ensuring teachers have the data they need to make instructional decisions for all subgroups of students - Intervention training for paraprofessionals working with K-5 students
Personalized Professional Development - DREAMS after school programming and Summer Campus for students who need additional time to learn to reach proficiency

Students attain career and college readiness before graduating from high school
