Optional Insurance Plan
- Payment Deadline: August 25th
- Insurance maintenance fees: $35/year. If you qualify for free and reduced lunch the rates have been reduced to $20 (reduced) and $10 (free)
- Please have an active application on file (website)
Parents/guardians may opt to purchase a yearly non-refundable Insurance Protection Plan in the amount $35.00 for each school-issued device. The Protection Plan is offered as an option and is not required in order for a student to receive a device. The Protection Plan is structured to significantly offset the cost of most "First Incident" accidental damages that occur. It does not include deliberate or negligent damage to the device, or loss other than a reported theft. Please see the chart below for full details.
- Reduced fees: If the student qualifies for free or reduced-price meal benefits, the insurance fees will be reduced to $10 or $20, respectively. To qualify for this benefit, a copy of the free or reduced confirmation letter you received from the school district must be presented to the district with the signed pledge form. This benefit is not retroactive during the school year.
- Expiration Date: This Protection Plan expires on the last day of school or on the day a student withdraws from the Byron School District, whichever comes first. If a student withdraws from the Byron School District for any reason, this insurance agreement becomes null and void on that date. The device must be returned immediately. Devices not returned on the date of withdrawal will be reported stolen.
- Insurance may be paid via the SchoolPay or at any district school building.
- Insurance must be paid in full in order for coverage to be applicable and must be paid prior to receiving the device.
- Spare Equipment and Lending - If a student’s device is inoperable, the school has a limited number of spare devices for use while the student’s device is repaired or replaced. This agreement remains in effect for loaner devices. Loaner equipment must be returned immediately upon repair of the original device.
