Byron School Board
Byron School Board
Independent School District 531 serves the Byron School District area, which includes portions of Olmsted and Dodge counties. The district is governed by a seven-member School Board, whose members are elected at-large by district residents during the general election in November for even-numbered years. To ensure continuity and avoid having all seven seats up for election simultaneously, the Board seats are staggered: four seats are up for election in one cycle, with the remaining three seats contested two years later. Each member serves a four-year term.
The Byron School Board holds regular meetings generally on the first and third Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. These meetings take place in the Board Room at the District Office, located at 801 Frontage Rd NW, Byron. Please click here to access the calendar listing of all regularly scheduled board meetings and work sessions.
A public forum is held from 6:00 to 6:15 p.m. during the meeting on the third Monday of each month. The public is encouraged to attend.
School Board Listening Sessions-take place at 5:30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month at the District Office. During these sessions, two Board members are available to listen to community input from 5:30 to 5:55 p.m., just prior to the regular 6:00 p.m. Board meeting. While no decisions are made during the Listening Sessions, Board members take notes and report discussion topics to the full Board.
