Welcome to Byron Public Schools

Welcome to Byron Public Schools! I’m excited to connect with you and share what makes our district a special place to learn, grow, and work. Whether you're a prospective family or employee, thank you for taking the time to explore who we are and what we value.
I am Nate Walbruch, Superintendent of Byron Public Schools. I joined the district in July 2025. Before coming to Byron, I served as Superintendent at Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Schools. Over the past 20 years, I have worked as a teacher, principal, and district leader.
Our Vision: Learn. Share. Innovate. Inspire.
At Byron Public Schools, our vision is to Learn, Share, Innovate, and Inspire. These four words shape everything we do. We believe learning goes beyond textbooks—students should connect with others, think creatively, and become leaders. That mindset extends to our staff, our culture, and our entire community.
We prepare students not only for success in school, but for life. The Byron Profile of a Graduate outlines the skills and mindsets our students develop from early learning through graduation. By the time they leave our schools, Byron graduates are:
- Communicators
- Collaborators
- Critical thinkers
- Creators
- Character-driven
- Productive citizens
This profile guides how we teach, what we prioritize, and how we shape experiences for our learners. It is a promise to our students and a shared commitment for our staff, families, and partners.
About Our District
Byron Public Schools serves approximately 2,300 students in a close-knit, supportive community. Our district includes an early learning center, elementary, middle, and high school. We offer strong academic programming, extracurricular opportunities, and a deep focus on relationships. Our staff lead with care and purpose, and our community takes pride in our schools.
I believe every student deserves to feel seen, safe, and supported. We create environments where students can take risks, build confidence, and grow their strengths. I also believe that great schools are built on strong relationships, between students, teachers, families, and community members.
Commitment to You
To families: You are our partners in this work. Your voice matters. We want you to feel welcome, informed, and valued.
To current and future staff: You make the difference. We support professional growth, encourage innovation, and value the care you bring to your work each day.
I invite you to visit our schools, explore our website, or reach out directly. Byron is growing, evolving, and rooted in its purpose. We’re proud of where we are, and excited about where we are going.
Together, we’ll keep learning, sharing, innovating, and inspiring.
Thank you for your interest in Byron Public Schools. I look forward to partnering with you to support the success of our students and the strength of our community.
Welcome to Byron!
