Intervention

Byron teachers will continue to develop, refine, implement, and evaluate interventions and student support services in literacy and math for students in need of extra support. This includes students at all levels and is referred to Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).

Such interventions take place:

  • in regular classrooms through differentiated instruction
  • beyond regular classrooms in specialized programs during the school day

The interventions are a supplement to the core classroom program and help students learn to read or do math on or above grade level. Byron Schools offer a continuum of services based on a multi-tiered level of services for all students, whether it’s an intervention for a student who needs more support or enrichment for a student who needs extension.

Byron Teachers use a framework for making instructional decisions for our students who need more help in order to be successful in core instruction. This framework, titled, SRBI (Scientifically Researched Based Instruction), was created by a group of professionals working collaboratively on a process for identifying students who need additional support. SRBI Framework outlines the process for data-driven decision making, intervention support. This process will help ensure that all students are reading at grade level or above by the end of each school year.
