School Health Screenings
School Health Screenings
Per Minnesota Department of Health guidelines, students participate in specific grade-level health screenings. Students also receive vision and/or hearing screening upon request from their parent/guardian or if their teacher suspects that there may be a vision or hearing concern that is affecting the student's ability to learn.
If at any time you question your child's vision and/or hearing, please feel free to contact the Health Services team to request a health office screening.
Scheduled Grade-Level Screenings
- Color Vision Deficiency Screening done for Kindergarten males
- Performed in April of current school year
- Vision and hearing screenings for all students in grade 1
- Performed during pre-conferences of current school year
- Vision screening for all students in grades 3 and 5

Re-screens and Referrals
If your child does not meet the passing criteria for any part of a vision or hearing screening, the Health Services team will re-screen them to verify results. If the student fails the second screening, a referral letter or email outlining the findings will be sent to parents recommending follow-up with a medical professional
