The Byron Continuing Education committee shall consist of one administrator, one community resident and five persons licensed by the Board of Teaching who hold at least a baccalaureate degree and are employees of Dist. 531. District administrators will serve rotating terms. Ideally, two faculty representatives will be from the Byron Elementary School, one from Byron Middle School, and two from Byron High School. The school administration and/or school board shall suggest individuals to fill the community representative position. In April each school building will elect teacher representatives with the results being announced via faculty bulletin. The term of committee membership shall be two years, beginning in September following the election. There is no limit on the number of terms an individual may serve. If a vacancy occurs during a member's term, the committee will appoint an eligible replacement until the next annual election.
The committee will hold its first regular meetings at 3:15 on the second Monday of September at Byron High School, at which time a schedule of meetings for the year will be established and posted in the office of each building. Additional meetings may be called by the Chairperson or by written request of three or more committee members. Notice of meetings shall be provided to each member of the committee at least five
days prior to the date of the meeting. A quorum shall consist of four committee members. Once a quorum is reached, decisions will be made by a majority vote.
